"This hotel is close to the Dupont Circle (five very walkable blocks, less than 1/2 mile) in an excellent and vibrant neighborhood. I stayed there based on the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. The building apparently has some historic significance, and a few of the corridors are narrow or unusually laid out. The room was very clean, with good quality bedding and furniture, and good lighting. The bathroom was small and narrow compared to the average hotel bathroom, and the tile a little worn, but with new modern fixtures and granite countertop, and spotlessly clean. I liked the layout of the (two, double-bed) room, with a table/desk by the wall as well as a small round table and two armchairs.
A nook with a desk and several electrical outlets was set up with two chairs so that two people could use it at the same time. Also in the nook there was a credenza hiding the fridge, with the coffeemaker on top of a granite countertop. This was a well-thought-out, functional layout. Room service was very fast, and the food was very good (for example, fresh, good quality salad greens).
I was very happy with the experience and the service. A little inexplicably, the cost was lower than for some of the chain hotels only 2-3 blocks closer to Dupont Circle. Perhaps people really hate walking. I will definitely stay at this hotel again when traveling to DC for vacation or work. It's close to the Dupont metro station, making it easy to get around DC, and it has just enough character, and also enough updates, to make for a very pleasant and comfortable stay. "

"Excellent service, warm and inviting staff, very comfortable rooms.
The Churchill is where we stay when visiting the city. Working for a historic hotel myself, I know what to look for and what to expect. You want a clean room, in a nice hotel, in a great location, with employees who care about what they're doing. We have stayed many times with our friends at The Churchill and have never been disappointed.
The location, just above Dupont Circle and a quick walk from the metro stop, is perfect for both the business and leisure parts of our trips. There are several restaurants located very nearby, and many more within a short walk. Shopping is great too, whether near the hotel, in Georgetown (a short/cheap cab ride away), or in the funky Adams Morgan district (also great for Ethiopian food). And a quiet walk around the gorgeous Kalorama area is really something to see...those great houses!!
I cannot say enough great things about the staff. They are at once elegant and sophisticated yet not at all stuffy or intimidating, as I find some city hotels to be. You get none of the attitude and all of the great service and attention to detail.
The rooms are immaculately clean, and the beds are heaven after a day of walking around those city streets. Those of you looking for the tourist-trap of a chain property should probably look elsewhere. Why stay in a room at the Marriott in THIS city that looks exactly like the one you stayed in at the Marriott in a different city??? I just can't understand that. If you want to feel like you're really doing the D.C. experience correctly, you'll be happy with The Churchill.
We'll certainly be coming back for another visit soon!"

"This hotel is right where you want to be. A very lovely area of DC.A Metro stop is just a few blocks from the hotel. From the friendly staff at check-in to the wait staff, all that I met were outstanding. Both food and service were 5 stars. Everywhere I went, I could see the multimillion dollar renovation. In the evening, I found the bar to be a lively place, however not "crazy". The gym had everything I needed. The doormen are some of the best in the city. Treat yourself, stay at The Churchill."

"The Churchill was actually my second choice, as the rest of my group was staying at the Hilton across the street. After comparing our experiences, I'm glad I wound up at the Churchill. The room was very nice: comfortable bed, nice reading chair with good light, mini fridge, etc. All of the staff members I encountered were very gracious and helpful. The only (minor) drawback was that the Ice and vending machines are on alternate floors, so if you want a soda and ice you will have to go to another floor to get one of them. Other than that, I had a great stay, and will definitely make the Churchill my first choice the next time I'm in Washington."
