Situated in an intimate and welcoming setting that mimics the galleries in a private home, the Phillips Collection is a unique museum that features masterful works of art by both American and European artists. Founded by Duncan Phillips in 1921, the Phillips Collections galleries invite visitors to enjoy the works in a slower, more relaxed manner, with many pieces showcased over fireplaces or near windows in a living room style setting. Phillips Collection Exhibitions -

In addition to the gallery's permanent collections, the Phillips Collection offers a many special exhibitions featuring the work of contemporary and modern artists. The Phillips Collection has displayed a myriad of unique exhibitions, ranging from small groupings of one artists' work to large-scale exhibitions encompassing a specific theme or style.

Phillips After 5 -

With a combination of live music, gallery lectures, modern art exhibitions, food and drinks, the Phillips After 5 event offers a memorable way to explore the Phillips Collection museum. Held from 5pm-8:30pm on the first Thursday of each month and every Thursday in August, Phillips After 5 is an extremely popular event. Phillips After 5 is included in museum admission, however advanced reservations are highly recommended during special exhibitions.

Sunday Concerts at the Phillips Collection -

Sunday Concerts at The Phillips Collection offer visitors an opportunity to enjoy classical chamber music surrounded by fine art and the stunning architectural details of the Phillips' Music Room. With a history dating back to 1941, the Phillips Collection Sunday Concerts feature a selection of ensembles and soloists performances, followed by an intimate question and answer session. Sunday Concerts are held each Sunday at 4pm, from October through May. Seating is limited and concert admission is $20 per person for non-members.

The Phillips Collection is open Tues.-Sat., 10am-5pm; Sun., 11am-6pm. Visitors can also enjoy extended evening hours until 8:30pm on Thursdays. Admission to the permanent collection is by donation during the week. Admission on weekends is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students.
