Here are a few of our favorite itineraries if you're looking for suggestions during your stay at the Churchill Hotel.

Washington in a Day

What if you only have a day or two to sightsee while you're here? What shouldn't you miss? Here are our favorites:

Hop on the Metro and head to Federal Triangle on the Blue and Orange Line. You'll see the Old Post Office Pavilion right at 12th and Pennsylvania. From the top of the Pavilion, you'll get a great view of the National Mall, including the Washington Monument. If you want to join a tour, you can get a bike tour, a Segway tour or a trolley tour right here.

Walk up the Mall to the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. You'll find volunteers that can help you locate a specific name.

Walk across the Mall in front of the Lincoln Memorial and past the Korean War Veteran's Memorial to the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. The FDR Memorial is divided into 4 areas - one for each term and is a lovely, relaxing spot (and a great place to get photos of the Washington Monumen and Jefferson Memorial across the Tidal Basin).

Walk to Foggy Bottom Metro and head to U Street for a half smoke or chili dog at a Washington institution - Ben's Chili Bowl. Take a walk down to 15th & U for a cupcake at Cake Love or Love Cafe.

If it's a nice night, walk back down to Dupont Circle. Or you can hop back on the Metro and head back down to the Mall to enjoy the Monuments at night. You can even check out one of the evening screenings at the Smithsonian's IMAX theaters or the Albert Einstein Planetarium. If you're looking for additional suggestions, Frommer's also offers several itineraries:
One Day / Two Day / Three Day

A China Experience in Washington

Visit one of the lesser known (and less crowded) Smithsonian museum exhibits - the Chinese Art collection at Freer and Sackler Galleries on the National Mall.

Visit the National Zoo See the Giant Pandas on loan from China at the National Zoo.

Take the metro to Gallery Place / Chinatown for some Chinese cuisine. Full Kee is a local favorite. If you’d rather stay closer to the hotel, try City Lights of China in Dupont Cirle.

Explore the shops of Georgetown and visit our own Chinese tea house – Ching Ching Cha - and enjoy a light tea meal or a snack when you’re ready for a rest.
