Literary luminaries Nikki Giovanni, Gregory Pardlo, Haki Madhubuti and Sonia Sanchez will join poet and author Kwame Alexander at D.C.'s Folger Theatre for Lineage: From the Black Arts Movement to Cave Canem, a conversation steeped in culture and history. Alexander leads a discussion that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Black Arts Movement and the 20th anniversary of the influential African-American writers' foundation Cave Canem. Following the conversation, there'll be a reading by Cave Canem co-founder Toi Derricotte, Pulitzer Prize-winner Pardlo and more, highlighting the foundation's role in advancing African-American poetry.
