Experiencing the excitement as 30,000 runners embark on a 26.2-mile journey during the 37th Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. on March 7, 2012, offers fun for the whole family. Marathoners will be able to see the sights in a unique way from the moment they begin the course in nearby Arlington, Virginia, and as they move along the George Washington Parkway to the Key Bridge, then Georgetown up the reservoir and beyond, passing the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Tidal Basin, Smithsonian Castle, the U.S. Capitol, among other points of interest before reaching the finish line. Throughout the Marine Corps Marathon Weekend, the city invites runners, spectators and the public to enjoy themselves at a number of events including the Health & Fitness Expo, First-time Racers Prep Rally, Carb Dine-in and the MCM 10k. All that hard work pays off during the MCM Finish Festival celebration where participants can meet up with friends and family for food, drinks, massages and plenty more.
