The Phillips Collection
THE PHILLIPS COLLECTION IN WASHINGTON, DC
Showcasing more than 3,000 art pieces and photographs from world-renowned artists. Situated in an intimate setting that mimics the galleries in a private home, the Phillips Collection features works by both American and European artists. Founded by Duncan Phillips in 1921, its art exhibitions are showcased over fireplaces or near windows in a living room style setting. Originally housed in the Philips family home, the museum has expanded with more than 3,000 art pieces and photographs from world-renowned artists, including Degas, Picasso, O'Keeffe, Whistler, and Braque.

MUSEUM COLLECTION & PHILLIPS AFTER 5
From Tuesday through Friday, admission to the Museum Collection Only is by donation. On Saturday and Sunday, when no ticketed exhibition is on view, admission is $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors 62 and over. Children under 18 and members are always free. Phillips After 5 is the first Thursday of each month from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and free for children and members.
EXHIBITIONS
In addition to the gallery's permanent collections, it offers many special exhibitions featuring the works of contemporary and modern artists. The Phillips Collection has displayed a myriad of unique shows, ranging from small groupings of one artist's work to large-scale exhibitions encompassing a specific theme or style.

- What are the best activities for families? Jazz n' Families Fun Days is offered free for families in early June. It combines a whole line-up of fun events including live jazz concerts, an "instrument petting zoo," art activities, and more. On any visit, ask for a Discovery Fun Pack at the Admissions Desk. It's a set of cards for young art appreciators with questions and activities. A great idea is to buy some postcards in the gift shop and take your kids on an art gallery scavenger hunt.
- What educational programs are available? The Phillips Collection founded the Center for the Study of Modern Art for research, publication, and discussions. It's housed in the former carriage house behind the main building. The Center hosts public programs featuring Duncan Phillips Lectures, Conversations with Artists, and Creative Voices DC panels. It also offers a K-12 Education program for children in Washington, DC and across the nation.
